Refilling central heating system?

CLARE J asked:

I have drained and refilled my central heating system. When I turned the boiler on after a few minutes hot water started pouring into the f e tank and the boiler cut out. What have I done wrong?
I drained my heating system as there was a leaking pipe i needed to repair.

We began renting our home in Colorado about 7 months ago. We have continued to stay because I lost my job, and we have been broke and our land lords have been great about late rent and such. Things are getting back on track however, and while I don’t want to be completely rude, this place is a debatable hellhole!

HOWEVER – though our rent has been late, it has still been paid.

Since we have moved in no repairs have been made.

The landlord said last summer they would put in a swamp cooler – they never did.

They are using part of the property (the whole back addition on the house and two storage sheds in the back yard) for storage and that area has cracked windows and the shed doors don’t close so there is a constant problem with raccoons, wasps, and other animals living in the storage area.

The foundation is cracked – so much so that the bedrooms on opposite sides of the house, when you lay in bed, there is a noticeable tilt to the house. You can’t really tell when you stand – which is how we didn’t realize it was so bad when we first moved in.

They have done NO repairs since we have moved in on items that were broken when we moved here – aka – one of our bathrooms don’t work (he handed us the plumbing to fix it but I don’t know how), the dishwasher is broken, the kitchen sink isn’t caulked in and moves all over, the counters aren’t done, and the doors don’t close (none of them in the house – not even the bathroom!) and the back door doesn’t lock or close properly, and the gutters are all broken and filled with dirt. We do minor repairs, but honestly, I can’t afford to fix the place up! If I wanted to that I would have bought something rather than renting! They won’t reimburse us for anything either!

Is there anything we can do? Reporting? Getting out of our lease? I don’t want to get them in trouble – I just want the repairs done or to be able to move out!

Thanks :)

oh – btw – we live in Colorado!

if i wanted to add a bathroom to my basement and make sure it was all legal and inspected and all that would i have to be a liscensed plumber+electriction to do it myself legally? I know some people do remodeling without getting it cleared with the local building inspecters is this the reason why? specifically a house im thinking about buying in hampshire county west virginia.

Main drain misaligned?

dubs4j9 asked:

I have a plumber here. He just cleaned out our main drain which was backing up in our yard. He found tree roots. Says they are gone but the main drain is misaligned and separated in 2 different places. The drains do not run under the house, just in the yard. He recommended a spot repair. How much does this normally cost?
Also, the plumber think that the biggest problem is beyond our yard on city property. Do you know if the city would pay for this?

Nicolas C asked:

i was just wondering as i love this breed but never seen one in the u.s.a but seen a couple in the uk.
