My electric bill is oddly high?

Leesah asked:

My bill last month cost me $200, which is kind of high, but I figured it’s just because the apartments is old, so the AC/heater unit uses a bunch of electric…that and the appliances are cheap and use a bunch as well I’m sure. It’s been floating around that range. I got the bill this month, and it says we owe $390 for the month of December. Now… we haven’t used any more electricity than last month, and I’m sure of this because we have even been trying to conserve to save some money. We’ve been turning everything off when we don’t use it, and have been trying to avoid using the heater. We’ve called the electric company to have them come out and do a reread, which is going to cost us $8, but the meter might say the same thing. The only thing I can think of is that they’ve been doing repairs in the apartment next door. The lady had to move out because of plumbing issues, and I know they’ve had to knock out some of her drywall to check for mold, and also doing other various repairs. It is possible that her apartment’s electric is being charged this way? And what should I do? I know there’s no way we owe so much and having us pay that amount is really unfair. Is there someone we can call other than the electric company ( who isn’t very helpful). Thanks for any help.

How can I fix a broken sewer pipe ?

Barbara M asked:

The tub and toilet would not drain or flush. A plumber was snaking out the pipe, starting in the toilet and the snake came out of the dirt planter and onto the driveway. The cast iron pipe that exits from underneath my bathroom floor to the exterior and then underneath my driveway , has split open/ corroded at the top. We dug up the dirt and exposed the pipe. It is cast iron and then is connected to clay. We removed the dirt and toilet paper that made the stoppage. Now everything drains! The plumber says he needs to put a camera down and run it to the street to see what else is wrong/cracked , and that he cannot repair the exsisting pipe because it is cracked. He said he will have to check with the City to see where the sewer lines are and their direction in my driveway .
A friend says , “Seal or cover the split open top of the pipe and cover it with some concrete”.
I believe there is also an expensive sleeve they can run thru the length of the pipe. HELP !! any suggestions?
I am on the ‘down’ side of the street, in a mountain area. My sewer line is probably way to deep in the street for me to do the job. Back hoe territory!

How to get refund from uninsured driver at fault?

qwerty2006 asked:

I was involved in a car accident. A drunk driver was driving heat to head, I was avoiding collision, and he hit my car. The police arrested the driver, I also have a witness. The driver didn’t have a license, was not the owner of the car, and didn’t have insurance. The car owner does have insurance though. I also have insurance, and I am insured from Unisured motorist accidents. However, my deductible is $1000, and looks like the car may be totaled, in which case I am losing a lot of money because the insurance company will use KBB value or something for refund. If the car is repaired, I also lose, because my car value drops.

What should I do? Is there a way to get my deductible back from somebody? Is the only way to file a suit against the driver? What are my chances of winning? How much does it cost? How should I behave with my insurance company?…. Any advice is highly appreciated.
Adjuster gave underestimation to the damage, and now the body shop is figuring it out…. But the insurance company has already mailed me the check less the deductible based on the underestimated record of loss. Also, the check says “Final payment check”. Is ti true that I better not cash it until the correct estimate is agreed upon?
Why do these insurance people want to make fool of me? Why they just don’t do what they are supposed to do?…
