It was working fine this morning, and the hot is working normal. The water all over the house is working fine as well, hot and cold. My kitchen sink is against an outside wall and the temps have been in the negatives, and will be for several more days. Plumber is too far away to come before next week. Is there anything that I can do in the meantime? Only way to turn off water, is to have town come and shut off entire line.

No Hot Water; Hot Water Retaining Tanks?

condadocondo asked:

I have no hot water coming from faucets. Gas Hot Air furnance-there is no separate hot water heater, only 2 large hot water retaining tanks. which appear to be functioning. I also have instant hot water under the kitchen and masterbath sink which are only giving cold water. NOTE: House has been dormant for 1 month; we had a cold snap of 8 degrees. house is at 60 degrees and furnances are working, however the pipe running from the NO. 1 tank marked ‘hot” is cold to the touch. The shutoff valve runs the hot water to the sinks. Is there any reset switch or something I can do before calling a plumber or heating repair? I tried running the hot water faucets to empty the water thinking it would need time to refill and heat the water, but that was over an hour ago and still cold water comes out of the tap.
Natural Gas Weil Mclien Furnace CGi
for radiant heat and furnace; and receiving heat-Yes bill has been paid.
Yes-it is a complex system-there are 5 zones for hot air heat and 4 for the radiant heat. There is an expansion tank on top of the burner and there are control valves for each of the hot water zones going to the floor. The retaining tanks I’ve been told do not heat water, just holdsit. I was told that the second retaining tank for was the master bathroom jacuzzi tub-but could be in error in no faucet in the whole house has hot water.

which career requires more intelligence?

Shim asked:

engineers or doctors?
even before you answer i have a strong inclination to engineering. i mean come on doctors memorise things and if you look at it a doctor is like a plumber who repairs pipes he knows the pipes properly, but the only difference between a doctor and a plumber is that on has a higher demand to repair than the other. seriously think about it. engineers invent, plan, design they understand concepts. A doctor runs away from math what does an engineer an engineer run away from, memorising a bunch of bull. but anyway what do you think?
I like the way all y’all have put it. believe it or not i just **** the fact that engineers are not given the recognition they deserve. what do you think? shouldn’t they also get atleast some a bit more credit for their work.
