Question about the water that flows to my shower/tub?

deanna asked:

We had a leaky toilet. My husband repaired it and the floor. He did a great job. But when he was done he went in to take a shower and noticed that the shower only allowed hot water to come out. No cold or even warm water. It has been this way for a month. neither of us know what is wrong and keep adjusting the hot water on the water tank so that we can take a shower.
I called many plumbers and because we live out in the county this will cost us around $200, maybe even more.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
Here is a description on the nozzles in the shower.
It is a single handle that turns both the hot and cold water on. To the right it is cold and as you move it to the left it warms up.
There is not a name brand on the handle. And we are having a hard time taking it apart. My husband suggested that we need to tear out the wall behind the shower. I do not want to do this and it seems like a simple thing to fix…but don’t know how.
Help, please?
Ok, i did not explain this right. Sorry. The water doesn’t even turn on until the handle is all the way to the left. And then only hot water. No cold water at all. I take 20 minute showers and the water stay hot until the water heater starts to run out.
I will try to take it apart though…
And I called many plumbers…the price that I gave is an average price for where I live. So, it is important for us to try and fix it ourselves.
Thank you for your help. :)
Oh..what does it mean when you say that the cold water side is “blacked”?

How can I fix the side spray on my kitchen faucet?

Tiffany S 04 asked:

I broke the handle on the side spray on my kitchen faucet. Can I just buy a new side spray and install that? OR will I have to buy a new faucet in order to fix? If so, is it an easy install or will I have to call a plumber?
Part 2
Will the new side spray I buy come with just that or will it have the ‘cord’ or whatever to come with it?

annalisa asked:

The state paid for the first month and security deposit of the the house but I still couldn’t give up my other place because the repairs were not done. I paid the rent and I tried to do the repairs the best I could plus I tried to hire license plumber and electrians but I didn’t own the house they wouldn’t come out. The owner didn’t want to fix it. The owner was going to let me buy the house. It was going to be my first house. I was being harassed by lot of people and I had them on tape and I had proof of the things to back me up but there was a fire after I wrote to the President and I lost everything expect a few important tapes. Please give me some answers no one has been answering anything for me. The owner of the house worked for the city and his friends were the inspectors and law enforcers so who can I trust? and Where can I go for the help to get the answers? Plus I had proof of the miss treatment of my son when the police and other lied so my son was taken away and put in abus

How much am I looking at to remodel an older home?

David G asked:

We lived with my grandfather for a while. It was a nice home and since I’m still living in the area (may even move back) I was thinking of remodeling it.

It’s a medium size house on pillars. It needs to be leveled and secured (not sure what the actual terms are). It has a master bedroom and 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. I living and dining area, a den area, and the kitchen.

It probably has some rotten wood, so that would have to be replaced also, along with probably putting in new flooring and most dry wall. The electricity would need to be rewired also. And the plumbing would have to be redone too. We had thought of putting in central air and heating, but not sure if it’s possible in this house, and not sure how if it would be reasonable.

We could probably do some of the work ourselves, such as the dry wall, wiring the cable, phone, and internet, and painting.

I know doing such a thing online is not going to be accurate. I just want to know if I’m looking at $20k or $60k. It is in kind of an older neighborhood with some rundown houses. I don’t want to put the fancy stuff in, but I do want to do some extensive repairs.
Sorry, located in South Texas. And that sounds like a lot. I guess I can also maybe run the plumbing and electric wires, but I don’t have much experience in plumbing…and I doubt an electrician would want to be called in just to plug in the wires to the box. That one, I don’t think I want to tackle.
