dogtraininghydepark asked:

We have a 13 year old Weil-McLain steam boiler, model LGB-7.

first inspection report:

Flooded out the boiler on the initial inspection to test the initial
integirty of the boiler. Boiler failed the flood out test. Building
needs a new boiler . Boiler leaks where the top of the sections
have worn through.

property manager says:

He reports that the boiler is leaking badly and either needs to
be replaced before the start of the heating season or all 6 sections of the boiler need to be replaced.

My plumber:
your boiler is quite young and
it is holding water and no signs of leaks
He said call someone else
don’t tell them your boiler leaks, just have them give it
an inspection.

2nd report:

start and check, brush and vacuumed burners,
cleaned pilot assemblies, sight glass, checked
flue travels, smoke? pipe pipe started and checked
operation, safety’s ok, explained how to flush low
water cut off, let steam ok

I purchased a building with 3 apartments in it. I am currently living in one and renting the other 2. My one tenant is having severe rat problems (to which I’ve spent almost $2000 to attempt to fix) and they are moving out. The rat problem is much more than I was led to believe (was told maybe 1 or 2 rats). From what my wildlife “expert” is telling me, it’s a whole bunch! I’ve only owned the building for about 5 months now and have spent a whole lot of money on repairs that the previous owners just patched up (mostly plumbing that the inspector couldn’t see).

Nomee asked:

I have a celticPlus Boiler which suddenly stopped working and ignition light is out. I went throught the manual and first thing i found was that there is no electricity coming to the boiler. Obviously it was fuse. I replaced the fuse and it was confirmed that previous one was blown. After replaceing the fuse the timer is working and running but there is no fan sound coming from boiler and i cant even ignite it. The ignition system is such that I have to press the flame button for about 14 seconds and then it ignited. I have tried this but I know there is something I am missing. What might have caused the fiuse to blow? and after replacing the fule what i might check step by step to see if i need to call someone special or is it just a minor problem that I can fix.

gavira_76 asked:

I am replacing all the radiators and boiler in the house, and I am buying all of the materials myself over the internet. I got a quote from local plummer for installation and removal of the boiler & radiators – the sum is way over my budget!
To reduce the cost I want to remove everything myself, so the plumber would only have to install stuff. What do i need to know & to do when removing old radiators and the boiler – do I have to bleed the radiators first? I probably need to get read of all the water in the system, because I also need to remove the hot water tank (instaling a combi-boiler).
Thanks for your help!
