Why do they try to discredit Joe the plumber by saying he has no license?
The man was approached and told of his vocation. His name is ‘Sam’ and if he was working as a plumber for a licensed man, and did not know his job, he would not be working long. Even a license does not make a person a pro. People with all sorts of certification, ***** us all the time among them lawyers, doctors, but seldom hair-dressers,or any other trades person. A registration is all that’s needed, and the market itself will weed out the incompetence. A certain amount of risk is necessary for progress, that is what brought us to the moon. We have a fine police force that are well trained, yet they can not keep you from crime, and are overwhelmed in solving theft and homicide cases. A bad plumbing repair or installation will be noticed by almost any idiot that hires them, just to save a ‘buck’

because the media would rather talk about that than ask real questions that make these candidates sweat.
VERy weird….never heard of that happening….
People are probably jealous because he was on TV and they weren’t.
Being licensed in any profession doesn’t mean you’re good, it means that the state can get a fee from you every year. I pay $700 per year for license fees but there are better people than me with no licenses.
Why do you think they are necessarily discrediting him to mention that he doesn’t have a license? I think if the media is trying to discredit anyone when they talk about “Joe the Plumber” they are trying to discredit McCain and Obama for using him as the stereotypical “average American.” Our local news did a Joe the Plumber segment on a bunch of plumbers who are actually named Joe and it was done in fun and not the least bit mean spirited.
Joe the plumber should have had all the necessary credentials before he opened his mouth on national tv. He was there to discredited the candidate but instead the tables were turned and he was exposed as a fraud. Let this be a lesson to everyone, the media does not care about you as a person, to them you are a scintillating headline, so when you speak in public where tons of media are, make sure you have your life in order.
In a society of well-meaning characters, even registration would not be a law. I see your point though, and am against license by a government that live like leeches on the working man that services and produces. Because we are not perfect, we need an inspection of our food prepared and other vital things. Tax and registration can fund this, and we should not discourage tradesmen and producers with overbearing fees, permits, mandatory insurance cost, that are driven up by lobbyists. The libertarians have it right for the most part, except their open border policy.
