my boiler pilot light keeps going out! help?
everytime i manually light it by pressing
down the gas button and lighting it with a stick when i release the gas button it goes out. Its an old style boiler i’d say twenty years old at least. im assuming that it needs the attention of a plumber, but i thought i’d give it a try incase.

Replace the thermal couple. That’s the gadget the flame hits and heats up to keep the pilot on.
It can be a little tricky, it’s best to call in someone who knows how to replace one.
while holding down the button usually you have to turn it to ON position. (smal rotation)
You can find anything on the internet these days. I suggest you look up info in how those old boilers work and you may discover what the problem is and whether or not you’re able of fixing it yourself.
Often you have to keep holding the pilot for about 1 minute so it stays on.
some older gas appliances require that you release the lighting button very slowly once it is lit. it worked with my dads old gas fire .
first answer from sonny is 100 percent correct
It sounds like the pilot assembly needs cleaned. It would also be a good idea to replace the thermocouple while you are at it.
the boiler should have a thermocouple that sense flame present to open the gas valve if it doesnt work the gas valve will not stay lite
