I am doing this for my husband, we purchased a spot in our sons yearbook, its a new business, and we have no budget setup for these things yet….
How to…
I know it has a lot of info, but it is supposed to be a detailed ad, as it has a full page spread in the yearbook…
I have actually revised it a bit though…

Well are you doing this for free or are you being payed for this? Are you a graphic designer or is this field new to you? You can download a 30 day free trial of adobe illustrator cs3 which is great for making logos. You would have to go through some tutorials though. Make sure the font goes well with the layout, make sure it’s well balanced, and most importantly, make sure the color layout is appropriate.
Slow down there Chris. You have way too many things listed. You need to focus on one or two of your best strong points. Everyone knows that most trades people can fix a lot of different things, but you don’t see drywall installers going around advertising that they build decks, etc. When you put every type of repair job on your ads and business cards it makes you look like you are begging to get any work that you can. And it makes you look like you are not very good at doing ANY of those jobs. So focus on 2 or 3 types of work that tie into each other. For example, floor coverings and tile installation. Painting (interior/exterior). Just don’t start mixing up painting with electrical and plumbing or people will think you are a fly-by-night contractor. Once you’re in the door and you have the job you can look around and suggest doing other repairs and upgrades for the client. You can also have several different business cards that list specific types of work rather than putting the entire list on one business card.
