Leaking tub surround?
I have a tub/shower combo. marble tub surround, with a window in the shower. We have sealed every seam there is to seal. When water is on, tub surround leaks from the back of the tub down, inside, the wall and onto the floor under the tub. We have a panel in the wall to get to the bottom of the tub, and that is where we can see the leak. It actually leaks so much it is coming out from under the siding down the foundation and out onto the ground. Who would I call for repairs? Plumber or carpenter? Plumbing is not leaking, there aren’t any pipes where the leak is coming from. The leak is on the opposite end of the tub that the plumbing is.

Are you SURE you’ve caulked it all? If it’s marble butting onto the tub you have to use silicone caulk. Also, a good trick is to fill the tub with water before you caulk. The water weighs down the tub and slightly widens the opening. Then you’re sure of getting the caulk well into the gap. There should be grout between the marble wall panels, or more silicone caulk at the wall juntures. Is the marble manufactured or natural. If it’s natural, the stone itself should also be sealed. If that doesn’t do it, I suspect you have a leak in the plumbing. Take the faceplate or escutcheon off the valves so you can partially see behind the tile. Turn on the water and look for any leaks in the solder joints, etc. If you still can’t find it you’re probably going to have to do some “exploratory surgery”.
